HIKING LA ROCCA - LAKE GARDA

Hiking one of the most popular hikes in Lake Garda

La Rocca

The hike up to La Rocca can start and end either in the centre of Garda town or Bardolino, towns on the West of Lake Garda.

The hike is quite exposed so it is important to remember a hat and some sun cream. This is a manageable but challenging hike and you will definitely feel like you have earnt your lunchtime pizza and aperol spritz afterwards. The views from the top are stunning and you awe at the beautiful Lake Garda crystal clear water below.

Although the hike is suitable for adults and children alike, it is not pram friendly and for older children be sure to avoid allowing them to run around close to the edge as the slopes are very steep and there are no safety barriers along the edges of the hilltop.

La Rocca

The hike is 6.3km long starting from Garda town up and down La Rocca and ending in Bardolino or visa versa. It is a relatively short but steep hike. It will take approximately 2 hours to complete depending on ability. The hike winds through woods, vineyards, farmhouses and fascinating archaeological, medieval and military remnants. We followed this trail.

After a well earned lunch and drink stop, if you don't fancy hiking back then you can take the local bus back to your resort which takes only 8 minutes and costs between £2-£4 or travel by boat which comes every 4 hours at a similar cost as the bus. A must during your trip to Garda or Bardolino.
