THE place to stay during your trip to the Victorian spa town of Harrogate
If you’re in need of a relaxing weekend then the spa town of Harrogate is the place for you. Harrogate is located in the heart of Yorkshire and dates back to the Victorian era. This spa town is famous for its Turkish Baths, Grade II listed Valley Gardens and the home of Betty’s Cafe Tea Rooms.
Sitting only a 5 minute walk from the centre of Harrogate is the Doubletree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel and Spa. The building dates back to the 19th century and retains its charm and traditional style whilst embracing modern touches. The hotel sits amongst 12 acres of award-winning gardens and offers luxurious dining options in the Carters Champagne Bar and Grill and Frederick’s Piano Lounge, named after the original owners of the Majestic Hotel.
Start your stay with a signature warm chocolate chip cookie on arrival. Skip the wait at the front desk by downloading the Hilton Honors app and checking in online. On arrival your digital key will be activated and you can unlock your door with your mobile phone. No need for a physical key or key card. Settle into your room, unpack and relax.
After exploring Harrogate, head down to the Frederick’s Piano Lounge for an aperitif before dinner. Relax in the lounge surrounded by murals of eight English spa towns including Bath, Buxton and of course, Harrogate and ancient artefacts including a grandfather clock gifted by the Majestics sister hotel in Marylebone London in 1900. Choose from a variety of beers, wine, cocktails and soft drinks and if you’re lucky enough to visit in good weather, enjoy your drink on the stunning terrace.
It’s time for dinner so make your way to Carter’s Champagne Bar and Grill. On your way from Frederick’s Piano Lounge make sure to look at the artwork on either side of the corridor which display old images of the Majestic Hotel, Harrogate and the famous Valley Gardens. The restaurant is decorated in an Edwardian style and offer an array of high quality champagnes. You can choose from a variety of dishes including fish and aged meat dishes cooked over a Josper Charcoal Grill. During our stay we chose the prawns and scallops to start, Chateaubriand for the main course and a Yorkshire rose cheesecake and chocolate orange tart for dessert. The dishes were cooked perfectly and extremely well presented.
The following morning we started the day with a buffet breakfast which included all continental options, fresh fruit, waffles, crumpets and a pancake maker as well as full English breakfast options. The breakfast buffet is located in Carter’s Champagne Bar and Grill. Enjoy your breakfast and then take advantage of the takeaway cups offered and take a coffee for the road.
After breakfast we headed to the Majestic Spa for treatments, a Mud Rasul and use of the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Read more about the spa experience below.
The Majestic Hotel is simply stunning and as with any Hilton hotel, the level of luxury and sophistication is unmatched. The perfect hotel stay in every way.
